On a couple of occasions I have found a terrapin in our garden, possibly because we had a stream flowing through it. On one occasion I had to rescue one that was trapped in our swimming pool. I think this is the Marsh
(or Cape) Terrrapin: Pelomedusa subrufa.
On seeing: Le bon Dieu est dans le detail, perhaps in the Annie Dillard sense.
